The day you passed, I cried all day,
Although I knew it was best this way.
For your kidneys failed and you did your best,
Until the vet said, "It's time he rests.
That morning, in my lap you lay
And I wished that you would pass this way
So peaceful, quietly in your home,
To save me from the time to come.
So kind and gentle all the people were
That joined us when goodbye was heard.
And in your eyes so blue and deep,
I said "Mama loves you" as you went to sleep.
I lost my friend the day you passed,
But in a little heart box your ashes last.
For one day too, from this world I'll go,
With this though, I am content to know.
We had a good life, this cat and I
And as we sleep in the by and by
I will rest as I know it should be,
With your little heart box there, right beside me.
