| Why does my cat...? is my bible for cat behaviour. A few years ago, I was having problems with a x-breed kitten. He was a biter, and I had no clue why. I bought this book to help me solve this riddle. Unfortunately, the cat had to be put down, but the book stayed and still helps me understand what exactly IS a cat.
First, about the author: Sarah Heath is a veterinarian specializing in pet behaviour therapy, lecturer at the Royal Veterinary College and the University of Bristol Veterinary School in Great Britain. And, lover of cats, of course.
Now, for the book... Alphabetically ordered by behavior terms, illustrated with funny cat caricatures, it is a collection of Q & A between Mrs Heath and cat owners facing problems or having simple behavior questions that can problematic for some cat owners.
Examples of topics covered vary from why does my cat eat the houseplants (and how can I stop this behavior) to why does he eat wool, rub against the washing mashine as if in love, deposit mice on my doorstep and refuses to use his litter box, etc, etc... common problems, (and not so common ones). Sarah Heath also explains what motivates cats, and goes to show how understanding these motivations can help any cat owner to develop a healthy and happy relationship with their feline friend, and where needed, deal with specific problems. Sometimes, knowing how a cat thinks is half the battle. |
